Willow Sculpture

Tim Davies, a London artist, visited Wimbledon Common Prep School in June.

Over the course of three days, every boy in the school took part in a workshop to help create three wonderful willow sculptures.  The boys listened very carefully to the instructions to learn how to bend and weave the willow. They then worked as a team to create heads, necks, legs and bodies.

It was very exciting to watch the sculptures grow as each class added more to the frames and gradually the forms of three fantastic animals emerged. The boys should be enormously proud of their creations, which have taken up residency next to Orchard Hall.

We are extremely grateful to Friends of Squirrels who funded the Willow Sculpture project and to Tim for providing such exciting resources and ideas.
