This Summer Term I have had the privilege of working with five very enthusiastic and hard-working musi-cians in my Recorder Club.
We had lots of fun learning songs and improvising our own tunes. Over the course of only a few weeks, the boys improved their playing technique and worked really well together as a team.
Shreesh (2FD) commented that “It was a good club to go to because I liked learning the song ‘Mr Cool’. I always put my hands the wrong way round but Miss Darby helped me to hold the recorder correctly.” Aditya (3G) mentioned that “Recorder Club was very musical! You will need your own recorder but if you don’t have one, don’t worry, you don’t have to buy one, you can just borrow one.” Jonathan McLean-Brown said “I went to Recorder Club because I like music and I like learning new notes, like E and C”.
At the end of the term the boys selected their favourite songs and organised a concert and tea party. On Thursday 26th June they bravely performed to their parents and many members of staff who came along to listen.
I would like to thank the boys for some thoroughly enjoyable music-making this term.
