Carol Service 12th December 2017
There were more than one or two of us glued to the weather forecast over the weekend. Would it rain, snow or simply blow us all away?
Mini buses were put on standby as we hoped and prayed for good weather. Well the sun quite literally shone on SW19 as we wrapped up warm and marched the whole school along the Ridgway to Emmanuel Church. What a glorious sight as line after line of angels, stars, kings, shepherds and a variety of farm animals made their way towards the village with their costumes peeking out from under regulation school coats!
WCPS were made to feel so welcome by the staff of Emmanuel. The curate, Richard Dryer, the organist Lois Smith and a multitude of their sound crew worked generously to contribute to our service being a great success. The boys fully embraced the re – telling of the Christmas story. They learned their lines and the lyrics to more than 15 songs and having rehearsed in Orchard Hall, showed great maturity and confidence as they transferred their acting to an entirely different setting.
Oh course, none of this could have been achieved without the enthusiasm and commitment of the staff team and your family support. I know the boys have been singing at home and that you have spent time helping your sons to learn their words.
Thank you very much.
